FDDI, Fursatganj Students Attend Workshop In IIT, Kanpur

 

The students of Footwear Design & Development Institute (FDDI), Fursatganj attended the workshop on Leather art, craft and design which was conducted by Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur from 11th to 16th April, 2017.

The students of FDDI School of Footwear Design & Production (FSFDP), FDDI School of Fashion Leather Accessory Design (FSFLAD) and FDDI School of Fashion Design (FSFD) attended the workshop.

During the workshop, understanding about traditional leatherwork skills and how to use specialist tools was demonstrated to the students.

 

The students learn various aspects of leather craft and design including overview of traditional leather handicraft, forecasting, design process, paper folding techniques (converting 2D pattern into 3D toy design), leather puppet making techniques and creative thinking.

Several techniques like embossing, carving, polishing etc., were also briefed to the students. They were made aware about design education and understanding of Indian craft. Training on batik work was given to the students.

During the workshop, understanding about traditional leatherwork skills and how to use specialist tools was demonstrated to the students

An exhibition was organized on the last day to display the products made by the students.
