Ethiopian Delegates Visits FDDI Noida
 


The Hon'ble Minister of State (Industry), Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Mr. Bogale Feleke and the Director General - Leather Industry Development Institute (LIDI), Ethiopia Mr. Wondu Legesse visited the Footwear Design & Development Institute (FDDI), Noida from 31st January to 1st February 2017.

 

LIDI is one of the International partners with FDDI which is jointly engaged in the development of the footwear sector of Ethiopia under the "Grand Transformation Programme (GTP)" - a five year development programme.

 

The purpose of the visit of the Ethiopian delegation, besides the performance evaluation of the Twinning project, was to discuss the modalities for the non-leather sector intervention project in Ethiopia.

 

FDDI, through its expertise has successfully carried out the ‘Benchmarking Programme’ (2010-2011) in Ethiopia in nine footwear companies and has also effectively conducted the three year ‘Twining Programme’ (Phase-1) along with Central Leather Research Institute (CLRI) at LIDI, Ethiopia.

The purpose of the visit of the Ethiopian delegation, besides the performance evaluation of the Twinning project, was to discuss the modalities for the non-leather sector intervention project in Ethiopia.

 

In continuation of the ‘Twinning Programme (Phase-1)’, FDDI has entered into another agreement of ‘Twinning Programme (Phase-2)’ on 8th May 2015 for two (02) years with the Ministry of Industry, Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia represented by LIDI through CLRI.

 

The objective of the ‘Twinning Programme’ is to prepare, equip and graduate LIDI to meet the requirements of Ethiopian leather and leather products industry and trade so as to realize the national vision and aspirations.

 

The purpose of the visit of the Ethiopian delegation was the performance evaluation of the ongoing Twinning Project (Phase-2) at LIDI, Ethiopia.

 

In this regard, the Ethiopian delegation met the Secretary & Officiating Managing Director of FDDI, Mr. Sameer Kumar Srivastava and the Executive Director of FDDI, Mr. Adarsh Kumar to strengthen business ties & to forge linkages further.

 

To provide an overview & functioning of non- leather footwear company in India, an industrial visit was also organized by FDDI for this high level Ethiopian delegation at Sports Station India Private Limited (SSIPL), located at Kundli, Sonepat, Haryana on 1st February 2017.
