'Interactive Session' of FDDI, Fursatganj students with Smt. Sonia Gandhi, Hon'ble Member of Parliament and Chairperson UPA in the gracious presence of Mr. Anand Sharma, Hon'ble Union Minister of Commerce, Industry & Textiles, Govt. of India
 
 

Smt. Sonia Gandhi, Hon'ble Member of Parliament and Chairperson UPA along with Mr. Anand Sharma, Hon'ble Union Minister of Commerce, Industry & Textiles who reached her parliamentary constituency Rae Bareli on a two days visit on 7th November 2012 started her programme by visiting the Footwear Design and Development Institute' (FDDI).

Mr. Rahul Gaira, Director General National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) also graced the occasion.

On this occasion, Mr. Mukhtarul Amin, Chairman, FDDI, Mr. Raajeev j Lakhara, Managing Director, FDDI, Mr. Sameer Kumar Srivastava, Sr. Executive Director, FDDI, Mr. Manu Tentiwal, Executive Director, FDDI, Mr. Amit Kumar Sharma, Executive Director, FDDI and other Governing Council Member of FDDI were present.

The Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony of the FDDI Fursatganj, Rae Bareli campus was held on 13.02.2007 by Mr. Rahul Gandhi, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) in the auspicious presence of Smt. Sonia Gandhi, Hon'ble Chairperson UPA and the construction was successfully completed within a record time of twelve moths whereas the academic session had commenced as per the stipulated time from 2008-09.

Smt. Sonia Gandhi, Hon'ble Member of Parliament and Chairperson UPA along with Mr. Anand Sharma, Hon'ble Union Minister of Commerce, Industry & Textiles visited the pilot plant, computer centre, Design Studio, classroom, library etc., and were happy to see the world-class infrastructure present in the Institute.

 

During their stay at FDDI, Fursatganj they interacted with the students.

Smt. Sonia Gandhi, Hon'ble Member of Parliament and Chairperson UPA praised the FDDI for conducting the professional programmes in the area of Retail Management, Footwear Design, Technology, Management, Fashion Merchandising, Visual Merchandizing, Marketing, Creative Designing & CAD/CAM and Leather Goods & Accessories Design etc. thus, providing trained high-class professional, managers, fashion designers, technologists to keep pace with the growing demand of the industry.

Everybody was enriched by Smt. Gandhi's vision, her views about education, the development as a whole which change the thought process.

Students displayed their work in the form of a presentation. They also put up stalls displaying the footwear & leather art crafts. They also depicted the evolution of retail sector in India. The entire display was much appreciated by Smt. Gandhi & Mr. Sharma.

 

Through video conferencing Smt. Gandhi also interacted with the students of other campuses located at Noida, Chennai, Kolkata, Rohtak, Chhindwara & Jodhpur.

 

Union Commerce, Industry and Textiles Minister, Mr. Anand Sharma in his address lauded the standard of education imparted by FDDI and said "It is heartening to note that by going beyond the national boundaries, FDDI has expanded its wings across the globe and has earned reputed position for its technical expertise and knowledge at the international forum."
"All efforts are on to make the FDDI a leader on the world stage and the Government of India is committed to invest in the institution building and invest in the young generation," said Mr. Sharma.

 

Mr. Sharma also sought better coordination between Central institutes having global reorganization including the Footwear Design and Development Institute (FDDI), National Institute of Design (NID) and National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT).

 

Such interactive sessions inculcate positive and realistic approach among the students and act as a major contributor in changing the shape of the country by transforming the thought process of the students to resolve any crisis in life in more focused way.

The state-of-the-art FDDI, Fursatganj campus ensures international standards of training and high end support services to the Industry in the domain of Footwear & Leather Products Design Technology, Retail Management and Fashion Merchandising and conducts various PG and UG courses in these areas where the total strength of the students is above 700.

 

The remote location of FDDI, Fursatganj has never been a bottleneck in attracting students. The campus is witnessing continuous overwhelming response from the youths of not only nearby region, but, also from all parts of India. Approximately 40% of the total enrollments are female students.

 

Besides ample air-conditioned classrooms, technical workshops equipped with modern state-of-the- art machineries in each area of Manufacturing Technology to encourage interactive and practical oriented training, it has conference halls, seminar halls, auditorium, open-air theatre, computer labs, and the library along with fully furnished separate Girls & Boys Hostel and staff quarters which makes FDDI Fursatganj campus a most modern and world class Institute in its own area.

The students were placed in the companies before the completion of their courses and have been placed in their dream companies with the desired profile and expected package.

 

The placement of this Institute witnessed the presence of not only leading domestic companies, but, also the global head-hunters offering plum placements to final-year candidates in retail, footwear, leather goods & accessories.

 

Gupta Overseas (I) Pvt. Ltd., Reliance Footprint Ltd., Max Range Retail Pvt. Ltd., Bureau Veritas, Sara Soul, Impactiva, Mirza international, Lohiya Footwear, ZB International, Mayur Leather (MLP), G. Shoes, Liener Shoes Pvt. Ltd., Bata India Ltd., Roop Maya, Ram Fashion Exports Pvt. Ltd., were some of the companies that conducted interviews for a number of posts and selected students through it.

 

Extracurricular and sports activities such as Technical Mela, Creative & design exhibition, soft skill training, personality development programme etc., are also being encouraged as a regular feature in the campus to hone the personality of the students and to create a conducive environment for the overall growth & personality development of the students to become an industry ready professional. Annual Fest 'FOOTSTEPS' has been started by the students from 2009.

 

The industries at Kanpur and Unnao are immensely benefited due to the establishment of FDDI, Fursatganj which is having the necessary training infrastructure and core competence for impacting the growth that may galvanize the industry and help them in repositioning as major global players and enhance the exports.
