FDDI participates in the 'Meet at Agra 2013'
 

he Footwear Design & Development Institute (FDDI) participated in the 7th edition of 'Meet at Agra' – a Leather, Footwear Components & Technology Fair which was organized from 15th to 17th November 2013.

 

The fair inaugurated by Mr. Ram Sakal Gurjar, Hon'ble Minister of State, Government of Uttar Pradesh was organized by the Agra Footwear Manufacturers and Exporters Chamber (AFMEC) at BSNL Ground, Near Yamuna View Hotel, Mall Road, Agra.

Agra is the biggest footwear manufacturing centre of India with approximately 5000 units in total, out of which approx. 60 units are fully mechanized, 150 units are semi mechanized & remaining falls under the cottage and house hold category having the installed capacity of producing approximately 3,00,000 - 4,00,000 pairs of footwear (all types) per day.

 

Footwear manufacturers of Agra have 65 % share in the domestic market & 28 % share in total exports of footwear from the country. All types of domestic brands like Bata, Liberty, Relaxo, Khadims, Enroute, Alberto Torressi etc. are being sourced from here. Agra supplies to all the world fame brands like Clarks, Salamander, Reebok, Floresheim, Deichmann, Timberland, Tribur, Royer Group etc.

The three day event saw a participation of approximately 200 exhibitors from across the world exhibiting under a covered area of 5000 sq. m with 3 Halls -Components; Components & Leather; and Machinery & Leather.

 

The exhibition offered tremendous business opportunities in all sectors of the footwear industry which include leading tanners, finished leather suppliers, component manufacturers, footwear machinery, equipment and accessories manufacturers, chemicals and packaging units, trade publications, as well as consultancy services. The innumerable visitors present included footwear manufacturers, institutional buyers from across the globe, designers, technicians and government representatives.


“The meet facilitated the exhibitors and visitors in acquiring new contacts besides strengthening the existing one and provided opportunity to connect and network with industry professionals,” added Mr. Lakhara.

 

During the fair, Taj MODEUROP Fashion Adoption Workshop for Spring-Summer 2015 was inaugurated by Mr. Aridaman Singh, Hon'ble Minister, Government of Uttar Pradesh.

 

The CSIR-Central Leather Research Institute (CSIR-CLRI) presented ‘’Taj MODEUROP,’ with the Council for Leather Exports (CLE) as India partner and FDDI and AFMEC as main sponsors and leading leather and leather product associations and institutions, like ISF, IFLMEA, ILPA, ILGA, CFLI, LCMA and Gupta HC Overseas, co-sponsoring the event with the support of the Indian leather sector.

 

On 16th November 2013, MODEUROP Colour Cards for Spring-Summer 2015 were released where 17 out of a total of 21 colours were selected as 'MODEUROP' for Shoes & Accessories for Spring Summer 2015 and 7 out of a total of 9 colours were selected as 'MODEUROP' for Leather Garments for Spring-Summer 2015.

 

FDDI displayed its publications and informed about its laboratory services, various training programmes, consultancy services through brochure and one-to-one meeting and also interacted with the companies regarding the placements of the students.

 

The students of FDDI also visited the fair where they had the opportunity to acquire knowledge regarding the trends & technological advancement taking place in the footwear industry.

 

The fair was one of its kinds as it exhibited not only the finest leathers, footwear components and accessories, but also cutting edge technologies and the latest shoe machineries.
