CLE - Southern Region organizes ‘Felicitation Meeting’ for Mr. Mukhtarul Amin, Chairman, FDDI & Presentation on ‘Services & Facilities of FDDI’
 

On 9th January 2014, the Council for Leather Exports (CLE - Southern Region), under the Chairmanship of Mr. P.R. Aqeel Ahmed, Regional Chairman-South organized a ‘Felicitation Meeting’ to felicitate Mr. Mukhtarul Amin, who has been nominated as ‘Chairman’ of the Footwear Design Development Institute (FDDI) by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Govt. of India.

On this occasion, Mr. Mukhtarul Amin, Chairman, FDDI was the Chief Guest and Mr. Rajendra K. Jalan, Chairman, CLE was the Guest of Honour whereas Mr. Raajeev j Lakhara, Managing Director, FDDI & Mr. Ajay Kumar, Secretary, FDDI were the Special Guest.

The felicitation meeting was held at Hotel Taj Coromandel, Chennai where Mr. K. Abdul Sattar Khan, Regional Director (South) – CLE gave the welcome & introductory address.

Mr. K.R. Vijayan, President & Mr. S.V. Kumar, Vice-President, Indian Shoe Federation (ISF) presented floral bouquets to the Chief Guest and all dignitaries on the dais in the presence of doyens of the industry which included Mr. M. Mohamed Hashim, Founder Chairman – CLE, Mr. M. Rafeeque Ahmed, President- Federation of Indian Export Organizations (FIEO), Mr. Habib Hussain, Chairman- Leather Sector Skill Council, Dr. A.B. Mandal, Director- Central Leather Research Institute (CLRI), officials from CLRI/ Central Footwear Training Institute (CFTI) besides other prominent industry members from Southern Region including office bearers of ISF.

 

Appreciating the significant contributions made by Mr. Mukhtarul Amin, Mr. R.K. Jalan, Chairman, CLE said “Mr. Amin had an ambition to see the growth of leather industry of India for which he took a giant step to improve market promotion activities and publicity measures worldwide.”

On this occasion, with a view to create awareness about the FDDI services and more particularly, the specialized courses & training programmes offered by the Institute, a presentation on ‘Services & Facilities of FDDI’ was also made which is the largest footwear-training institute in the world having eight campuses located at Noida, Fursatganj, Kolkata, Chennai, Rohtak, Chindwara, Jodhpur & Guna.

FDDI’s Chennai Campus established at Irungattukottai near SIPCOT Footwear Park is having state-of-the-art library, computer lab, well furnished and centrally air-conditioned building, class rooms and lecture halls, latest multi-media audio-video, educational support for teaching and a fully equipped auditorium which provides the students a right balance between concrete structure and natural ambience for holistic development.

Addressing on this occasion, Mr. Amin said “To sustain the envisioned growth set by the Govt. of India, FDDI, as a leading Institution must resolve the various problems of the Indian leather industry of the Southern region where the major production centres for leather & leather products are located at Chennai, Ambur, Ranipet, Vaniyambadi, Tiruchirappalli, Dindigul.”

 

Mr. Amin, who is the CMD of Superhouse Group is giving his utmost time to make the FDDI as a role model for technological & infrastructural development for the footwear, fashion & allied industries and the retail sector. He is very optimistic about the role, which FDDI is playing in the development of the human resource for the footwear & allied sector.

On this occasion, Mr. Raajeev j Lakhara, Managing Director, FDDI said, “The rich experience of Mr. Mukhtarul Amin has provided valuable inputs in calibrating future strategies of the Indian Leather & Leather Products Industry.”

 

“Mr. Amin does not need any introduction, as his contribution towards the Indian Leather & Leather Products Industry is quiet well known as he has been associated with the leather trade in all its aspects,” added Mr. Lakhara.

 

FDDI is also having International Testing Centre (ITC) at Chennai which is innovative in diverse range of scientific & sophisticated testing methods and offering all the latest and most demanding testing facilities for the development of the Indian Leather Sector.

 

An Operators Training Center has also been established by the FDDI at Ranipet which is offering Basic Operators course in Cutting and Closing to the unemployed youths to address the uniform problem of lack of trained manpower requirement of the Indian leather and leather products industry.

 

The participants appreciated the services of FDDI and offered some valuable suggestions to strengthen/widen the role of the FDDI towards the future development plan of the leather and leather products industry.
