A seminar on ‘Promising Career in Footwear, Retail, Management and Fashion Industry’ was organized by the Footwear Design & Development Institute (FDDI), Chennai on 10th January, 2014 in its Auditorium.

On this occasion, Mr. Mukhtarul Amin, Chairman, FDDI, Mr. Raajeev j Lakhara, Managing Director, FDDI and Mr. Ajay Kumar, Secretary, FDDI were present.

 

In his keynote address, Mr. Mukhtarul Amin, Chairman, FDDI, said “There are millions of vacancies waiting for the youngsters in footwear and allied industry which is playing a major role in overseas trade and export.”

 

Mr. Amin also spoke on the upcoming trends in leather and footwear field.

The event was attended by more than 300 students and faculty members from all over the State of Tamil Nadu including Kendriya Vidhyalaya, Ashok Nagar, Somangalam School, Kuntrathur, Maharishi International School, Sungavachatram, Rajiv Gandhi Institute, Sriperumbudur, New Prince Arts & Science College, Medavakkam.

Citing about the relevance & requirement of this seminar, Mr. Raajeev j Lakhara, Managing Director, FDDI said, “The seminar was organized to provide a suitable platform to enable interaction among the entrepreneurs, professionals and students about the career avenues available in Footwear, Retail, Management and Fashion Industry.”

 

FDDI programmes develops technical abilities, analytical abilities, problem-solving acumen, decision-making skills, leadership ability, innovation and entrepreneurship, and lays stress on inculcating a positive attitude, professional values and ethics in the students.

 

“The seminar further raised awareness among the students who are on the threshold of choosing a lucrative career among the various Under Graduate, Post Graduate & Integrated Professional Programmes like Footwear Design & Production Management, Creative Designing CAD/CAM, Fashion Merchandizing & Retail Management, Leather Goods & Accessories Design, Fashion Design and Business Management (BBA+MBA),” said Mr. Lakhara.

The professional programmes of FDDI embark on a career that holds the promise of intellectual and material rewards, hence it is the most sought after career option & the students are eager to join FDDI.

 

To guide the students, FDDI had also invited eminent speakers from the industry namely Mr. G. Somasundaram, who has been associated with exporters like Gokuldas Exports for Fashion and Retail Sector and Mr. Ezhil Arasan of Enco Shoes.

 

Mr. Somasunder made a presentation on the career opportunities in the field of Fashion & Retail where he explained about the upcoming trends in the fashion industry & on the fabrics and manufacturing process.

 

Mr. Ezhilarasan also made a presentation on career opportunities in Footwear where he explained the kinds of footwear and their manufacturing process.

 

The growth potential in Retail, Leather Goods & Footwear is tremendous. The huge number of trained professionals are required in Retail, Leather, Footwear and allied industry. It is an initiative from the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Govt. of India to cater the growing demand of trained professionals in these specialized fields.
