FDDI’s Incubation-Cum-Operator Training Center Inaugurated At Dewas, Madhya Pradesh
 

Footwear Design & Development Institute (FDDI) has accorded utmost priority in promoting ‘Skill Development’ to conduit the skill gap for the growth of the Footwear, Leather and allied Sector.

In order to overcome the acute shortage of trained manpower in the leather & footwear industry and to provide gainful employment to the unemployed youth, a Leather Incubation-cum-Operator Training Center (IOTC) was inaugurated at Dewas, Madhya Pradesh on 30th January 2017 by Mr. Sanjay Satyendra Pathak, Hon’able Minister for MSME (Independent charge), Government of Madhya Pradesh.

The IOTC has been established at Industrial Area-2, Madhumilan Chauraha, Dewas, Madhya Pradesh in collaboration with Madhya Pradesh Laghu Udhyog Nigam Ltd. (MPLUNL), and M/s. Tata International Ltd., under the Placement Linked Skill Development Programme (PLSDP) Scheme of the Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion (DIPP), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India.

 

This effort will supplement the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision of ‘Make in India’ programme designed to enhance skill development for the Leather Industry.

FDDI also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with MPLUNL & M/s. Tata International Ltd., for organising the Skill Development Training Programme in basic Cutting & Closing Operator course under PLSDP Scheme of HRD Mission along with Entrepreneur Development Programme for the Entrepreneurs for a duration of 6 month (FMT) & 1 year (DFDMT).

The MoU Between MPLUNL, FDDI & M/s. Tata International Ltd. was signed by the Chief General Manager on behalf of MPLUNL and Center In-charge on behalf of FDDI and Unit head of M/s. Tata International Ltd., Dewas in the presence of the Hon’able Minister Mr. Sanjay Satyendra Pathak.

On this occasion, Mr. Manohar Utwal, Member of Parliament, Mr. V.L Kanta Rao, IAS Principal Secretary MSME, Mr. Ashutosh Awasthi, IAS, DM Dewas, dignitaries from the industry and person from the media were also present.

 

FDDI trained 1,44,093 trainees & placed 1,15,660 trainees during the last FY 2015-16. In the current year, i.e. 2016-17, FDDI has been allotted a target to train 1,44,000 trainees and as per the status up to 30th November 2016, 77466 candidates have been covered through its Operators Training Centers/ Sub-centers located in various parts of the country including main OTCs at Agra, Kanpur, Kolkata, Ranipet, Punjab, Haryana and Delhi/NCR. Out of the total trainees, 62291 trainees have been successfully placed in different footwear companies.

Bio-matric attendance and Aadhar Card linkages are being implemented in PLSDP Scheme.
