The Footwear Design & Development Institute (FDDI) participated in the 35th edition of India International Trade Fair (IITF) which is a brand name enjoying recognition from around the world.
The fortnight-long event held at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi was divided into two segments-business days (November 14 to 18) and general public days (November 19 to 27). But, this year, business days were also open to school students.
At Haryana Pavilion, FDDI displayed the wide range of products made by its budding designers, including hand bags, purses, leather jackets, ladies and gents footwear.
The fair was inaugurated by the Hon’ble President of India, Mr. Pranab Mukherjee who was accompanied by Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, Hon’ble Minister of State Commerce & Industry (I/C), Government of India.
The 35th IILF provided a common platform to the budding designers of FDDI to showcase their products & exchange informa¬tion that has become increasingly important in the contemporary business environment.
The 15 days annual event showcased the face of India in diverse sectors. The theme of the fair this year was the pet-project of NDA-government, ‘Make in India’.
This year, while Afghanistan was the ‘partner’ country, Bangladesh was roped in as the ‘focus’ country. Goa and Jharkhand acted as the partner States, while Madhya Pradesh was the focus State.
The appreciation received from Hon’able Chief Minister of Haryana, Mr. Manohar Lal Khattar, during his visit at FDDI stall, gave a big moral boost to all the students and staff members who worked really hard to make it a big success. He interacted with the students and appreciated them for their products.
The Governor of Haryana, Mr. Kaptan Singh Solanki and Chief Secretary of Haryana, Mr. Depinder Singh Deshi also visited FDDI stall and communicated with the staff and students on duty.

The product profile of IITF 2015 included Cosmetics, Healthcare products, Service sector, Consultancy services, Consumer Electronics, Home & Kitchen Appliances, Fitness equipment, Optical and Eye care products, Textiles, Jute and Coir, Leather Goods, Footwear & Travel Goods, Banks, Insurance, Financial Services, Processed Food & Agro Products, building Industry products, products from Small and Medium size Enterprise, Ministries & Government Departments and various products from foreign countries.
Over 7,000 firms from India and abroad participated in the fair. The overseas participation was from countries such as Egypt, Bhutan, China, Cuba, Germany, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Tibet, Turkey and the UAE.
