FDDI SIGNS MOU WITH THOMAS BATA UNIVERSITY, CZECH REPUBLIC
 
 

On 14th December 2011, the Footwear Design & Development Institute (FDDI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Thomas Bata University (TBU), Czech Republic for broad range of collaboration to promote quality education, research & development. The MoU is based on the strength of existing competencies of the two organizations.

 

FDDI, with seven well designed campuses at Noida, Fusatganj, Chennai, Kolkata, Rohtak, Chhindwara & Jodhpur is rated among the premier fashion institutions in the world and is globally recognized as a ‘Centre of Excellence’ for Fashion Design, Footwear & Leather Technology, Management & Retail education.

Tomas Bata University in Zlín is a dynamically growing higher education institution and one of the most prominent centres of research in the Czech Republic.

 

TBU follows the forty-year tradition of the Faculty of Technology, which was founded in Zlín in 1969 and since then has educated hundreds of highly-qualified professionals. The University is named after the originator of the shoe industry in Zlín and a world-famous entrepreneur Tomas Bata (1876- 1932).

 

Citing about the relevance & requirement of signing this MoU, Mr. Raajeev j Lakhara, IRS, Managing Director, FDDI said, To enhance relations and to develop academic, cultural and scientific interchange in the areas of education, research, and other activities, and work together toward the internationalization of higher education the MoU has been signed.

 

As the FDDI is in expansion mode, hence, in line with Institute’s mandate of holistic development & in its continuous efforts to maintain at par with International standards, we are collaborating with TBU for mutual cooperation and growth, said Mr. Lakhara

 

Strategic Alliance:

  • Exchange of faculty members;
  • Exchange of students;
  • Undertake cultural programs;
  • Undertake joint conferences,
  • Joint organization of national or international projects;
 

For signing of the MoU, a delegation led by Prof. Petr Saha, Rector, TBU visited the FDDI Noida on 14th December 2011.

 

The delegation visited the International Testing Center (ITC), Pilot Plant, Product Development Center (PDC), library, classrooms, Information Technology Services Center (ITSC), Centre for Retail Management (CRM), Centre for Leather Goods and Accessories Design (CLGAD) etc., and was highly impressed to see the world class infrastructure and facilities of the Institute.

 

The objectives and mandates of both the organization are therefore similar and complementary to each other. In accordance with the terms of cooperation, both the Institutes will facilitate active exchange of, faculty members & students and undertake joint research programs/projects involving the academia of the two Institutes, added Mr. Lakhara.

 

FDDI & TBU agree to identify research themes of international, relevance and to form joint teams for carrying out research on them. The findings of such research projects will also be published jointly by the two Institutes.

 

The MoU between FDDI & TBU will accordingly introduce synergy in the opportunities and advantages of both these institutions thereby bring about a significant transformation in education, research & development, further added Mr. Lakhara.

 

This synergy is expected to enhance the capability of both the partnering organizations in the future. This strategic collaboration provides an excellent fit of strategy for developing innovative ideas & excellence in the area of collaborative programmes that are internationally and nationally recognized.

 

Through this collaborative partnership faculty and students will contribute to advancing educational opportunities and global understanding.
