Workshop on ‘Intellectual Property Rights and Patent Filing Procedure’ held at FDDI Hyderabad campus


A workshop on ‘Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and Patent Filing Procedure’ for Footwear and Fashion Products was held from 20th to 22nd January 2020 at Footwear Design & Development Institute (FDDI), Hyderabad campus.

The workshop was conducted in collaboration with Cell for IPR promotion & Management (CIPAM) and Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India.

A total of fifty-five participants which included faculty & students attended this workshop.

On 20th January, Ms. Deeksha Arora who represented CIPAM and Mr. Saurabh Vashishth explained about various aspects of IPR such as Patents, Copyrights, Industrial Design, Trade-marks & Geographical Indicators.

The information provided during the session was successful in bringing greater clarity on understanding of the otherwise clouded topics of IPR. In the field of Design, the importance of copyrights & Patents was also dealt with in great detail.

The sessions conducted on 21st & 22nd January 2020 by Mr. Sukhdeep Singh, Assistant Controller of Patents & Design at Patent Office, Govt. of India were predominantly dedicated to Patent search, Filing and Drafting.

During these practical sessions, the participants received hands-on practice which helped them to acquire good understanding of all important aspect of IPR. The Drafting techniques which were also practiced upon during the session was beneficial.
