Factory visit for FDDI, Kolkata students at Ajanta Shoe’s (India) Pvt. Ltd., Kolkata

To amass knowledge about footwear manufacturing, get acquainted with the best practices adopted in the factory and to accelerate learning, a batch of 39 students of Footwear Design & Development Institute (FDDI), Kolkata campus were taken for factory visit at Ajanta Shoe’s (India) Pvt. Ltd., Kolkata.

Under the guidance of the highly experienced faculty of FDDI, the students of FDDI School of Footwear Design & Production (FSFD&P) were taken for the factory visit on 12th & 13th April 2022.

Ajanta Shoes is a 65-year-old footwear giant, commanding unshaken trust in the industry. The company has around 1000 dealers and sub-dealers all over India, and 20,000 retailers pan-India. The company has three state-of-the-art production units around Kolkata namely at Boralighat I, Boralighat II, and Jangalpur where it manufactures shoes using best-in-class technology.

Mr. Ashraful, Operational Head, Mr. Manish Sharma & Mr. Anjan Chatterjee, Head Product Development (PD) & Mr. Prashant, Head Sport’s shoes & Stuck-on guide the students during their visit at various departments namely Testing lab, PD, Cutting, Closing, Printing, PU section, PVC section, EVA section, Strobel construction, Stuck – on construction, Compounding, Marketing & Merchandising & Packaging.

The visit provided an opportunity to the students to acquire knowledge regarding selection and usages of synthetic materials & products, chemical compositions, compounding, mixing, designing, production & marketing.
