Training Centre established by FDDI for Leather Goods making inaugurated in Deoli village, Jammu
Footwear Design & Development Institute (FDDI) has established a training center for Leather Goods making at Deoli village in Jammu district.
Though the training workshop started from 10th September 2021, the official inauguration of the training centre was done on 16th September 2021.
The Sarpanch of Deoli Village, Mr. Yoginder Singh inaugurated & chaired the programme along with Ex-Sarpanch, Mr. Mulakhraj Singh & Ward member of Deoli village, Mr. Darshan Lal.
Jammu & Kashmir is known internationally for its unique style of embroidery which is found on various goods & craft products. The value addition on various goods & craft products using leather will be advantageous in increasing the acceptability of these products and enhance its market value.
The objective behind establishing this training center is to teach the new design & techniques of making day to day products like ladies wallet, mobile case, ladies handbag, shopping bag, laptop bag, ladies belt, file folder, photo frame, table mats- woven, table lamp stand, jutti incorporating leather, textile & embroidery which will also demonstrate the legacy of Jammu & Kashmir.
Currently 50 trainees have been enrolled for the training session which is free for the youth of Deoli, Jammu. All the training material, refreshment during the workshop will be provided by FDDI.
The training session is conducted to make the youth well aware about the current trends so that they can make day-to-day articles & be self-dependent which will also fulfil the goals of ‘Make in India’ & ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’.
