Workshop on ‘Rapid Prototyping Using 3D Printing’ held at FDDI, Hyderabad campus
A workshop on ‘Rapid Prototyping Using 3D Printing’ was held at Footwear Design & Development Institute (FDDI), Hyderabad campus on 6th February 2020.
The workshop was conducted in collaboration with Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design and Manufacturing (IIITDM), Kancheepuram. IIITDM is a Centre of Excellence for technical education and research established in 2007 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India to pursue design and manufacturing oriented engineering education and research and to promote the competitive advantage of Indian products in global markets.
The morning session of the workshop was conducted by Dr. Senthilkumaran K, Coordinator of Teaching Learning Center & Assistant Professor, IIITDM, Kancheepuram. He briefed about the future of the footwear and fashion industries with the help of technologies like Industry 4.0, 3D printing and explained the future design aspects of 3D Printing technology, types & it’s applications. In the second session, Mr. Jayakrishnan, Research Scholar, IIITDM Kancheepuram explained about Software and Hardware aspects in 3D Printing process, especially about the fused deposition modeling process.
The afternoon session was conducted by Dr. Senthilkumaran K, Mr. Jayakrishnan & Mr. Aravindan, IIITDM- Kancheepuram. During this session, the participants received hands-on practice which helped them to acquire good understanding of entire process planning related to the Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) process and few participants have got the chance to print and visualize their design using the FDM printer.
The workshop was attended by one hundred participants which included faculty & students.
