With an objective to make the young minds aware about the upcoming trends on materials, colours & design aspect of the garment industry, the students of FDDI, Kolkata campus visited two garment fairs namely, Kolkata Metiabruz Garment Fair 2023 and 6th Kolkata Garment Expo 2023.
Kolkata Metiabruz Garment Fair 2023, a kids wear apparel manufacturing garment fair was held from 27th to 29th July 2023 at Biswas Bangla Mela Prangan, Milan Mela, Pavilion A, Near Science City, Kolkata.
Bangla Readymade Garments Manufacturers & Traders Welfare Association, Kolkata organized the 6th Kolkata Garment Expo 2023 which was held on 27th & 28th July 2023 at PC Chandra Garden, Science City, Kolkata in collaboration with MSME & Textile Department Govt., West Bengal, supported by Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC).
Under the guidance of the highly experienced faculty of FDDI, a total 21 students and 1 faculty of the School of Fashion Design (SFD), batch 2021 and 2022, and from School of Footwear Design & Production (SFDP), batch FDP 2022 visited the fairs.
The students visited the garment manufacturing company stalls and saw the latest designs at booths. They got the opportunity to see various kinds of textiles and upcoming technology in the field of garment manufacturing.
Apart from getting hands-on technical knowledge, the visit also gave an opportunity to the students to understand the event management skills required for conducting such fairs and exhibitions as well.
This was an excellent opportunity for the students to venture into the garment manufacturing companies in Kolkata and interact with the industry personnel for their upcoming industry internships.
