Mr. Vivek Sharma, an IRS officer of 2003 batch of the Indian Revenue Services has joined Footwear Design & Development Institute (FDDI) as the ‘Managing Director’ from 10th February, 2025.
Prior to joining FDDI, he was working in the Income Tax Department and handling the charge of Additional Director General-2 (HRD), Central Board of Direct Taxes, New Delhi.
He has done Bachelors of Engineering with specialization in Industrial Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)- Roorkee.
Having wide exposure in the field of Administration and Finance, Mr. Sharma intends that FDDI must play a transformative role to promote the industry by providing skilled workforce and technology adoption to the Leather, Footwear and Allied industry which is a major constituent of India’s manufacturing sector.
He has broader integrated vision to make FDDI, as one of the best hub of ‘International Skill Learning Centre’, develop industry-institute interface for collaborative research in the field of Footwear, Leather, Retail, Fashion & Management to stand up to the expectations of its stakeholders in the educational landscape globally.
He is also having holistic view to help the micro-entrepreneurs and artisans in their capacity building and to benefit from emerging opportunities.
