FDDI, Chennai campus participated in the marathon titled ‘Soles for Souls’ which was organized by Council for Leather Exports (CLE) and held at Island Grounds, Chennai on 29th September 2024.
It was organized with the support of Government of Tamil Nadu and in partnership with the Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC), SIPCOT, Greater Chennai Police and many educational and training institutions and Colleges in the Chennai city i.e. Guru Nanak College, Chennai Institute of Technology, Murugappa Polytechnic College, Anna University, Madras University, Madras Christen College, Loyola College, CLRI, FDDI, CFTI and many more.
Hon’ble Tamil Nadu Health Minister, Ma. Subramanium was the ‘Chief Guest’ of the event Mr. Rajendra Kumar Jalan, Chairman, CLE, Mr. R. Selvam, IAS, Executive Director, CLE, Mr. M. Abdul Wahab, Regional Chairman (South)- CLE and Dr. Rafiq Ahmed, MD- Phoenix Kothari Footwear Limited were also present as ‘Guest of Honor’. Besides this, all major footwear and leather industry representatives from Tamil Nadu graced the occasion.
Marathon featured three categories namely; 3km.-for 8 years and above 5km. -for 12 years and above and 10km.-for 16 years and above.
With over 5,000 runners, including 100+ enthusiastic students and 05 staff from FDDI Chennai participated in the event which was a powerful movement to promote the footwear sector while raising social awareness about the importance of a drug-free society.
Participants took on the 10km, 5km, and 3km runs, uniting for a healthier, stronger future.
