National Workshop held at FDDI, Head Office


A national level workshop on ‘Latest Trends and Innovations in Material, Manufacturing, Design, Brand and Promotion’ was held at FDDI, Noida on 05th July 2024.

This initiative was taken by FDDI to fill the gaps between the training institutes, Research and Development on the latest trends and requirements of the footwear industry with respect to material, manufacturing, design and promotions enabling to create and embrace a better future for the entire footwear industry.

The event was graced by the ‘Chief Guest’ Mr. Rajeev Singh Thakur, IAS, Additional Secretary (AS), Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOC&I), Government of India (GoI), whereas the other distinguished guests of the event who graced the occasion were Mr. Sanjay Gupta, Member Governing Council – FDDI, Director - M/s. Sandeep Rubber and President - Indian Footwear Components Manufacturers Association (IFCOMA), Mr. Atul Kumar Mishra, Regional Director (RD), Council for Leather Exports (CLE), Mr. Sanjay Kumar, Executive Director (ED), Leather Sector Skill Council (LSSC), Mr. Subhash Jagga, Founder & Managing Director – Today Footwear and Vice President - Confederation of Indian Footwear Industries (CIFI).

On behalf of FDDI, Colonel Pankaj Kumar Sinha, Managing Director (MD), FDDI welcomed the ‘Chief Guest’ and all the other delegates including industrialists, person from the print and electronic media during which the staff & students were also present.

The workshop started with ‘Lighting of Lamp’ by the ‘Chief Guest’ and other dignitaries.

Delivering the ‘Keynote Address’, Mr. Rajeev Singh Thakur, IAS, Additional Secretary-DPIIT said, “With the Center of Excellence (CoE) now established and equipped with state-of-the-art machinery, FDDI must fully utilize these resources to meet future industry demands.”

He also emphasized the importance of entrepreneurship, urging the young generation graduating from the institute to acquire practical knowledge and skills necessary to start their own ventures, alongside pursuing placement opportunities within the industry.

The participation from industrialists and organisation helping the industry like Invest India, ECGC, CLRI, CLE, CIFI, IFCOMA, LSSC provided an opportunity to discuss ideas, technologies, fostering collaboration in setting up the growth path for the footwear industry.

Delivering the ‘Welcome Address’, MD, FDDI said, “I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere thanks to our honorable speakers of the day for today’s workshop who will provide us not only essential knowledge, but also a better understanding of the parameters, tools, and controls that contribute to the design, trends, manufacturing processes and marketing methodology of footwear and allied industries.”

Ten distinguished speakers focused on various topics and key aspects offering a comprehensive overview of the industry's latest advancements aimed at promoting industry excellence and fostering collaboration among various stakeholders.

There was an interactive session during which the doubts of the audience were clarified by the key speakers. Live streaming of this graduation ceremony was done on social media.

Participants appreciated the opportunity to engage directly with industry leaders and gain hands-on experience with new technologies.
