Footwear Design & Development Institute was established by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India.
The Noida campus established in the year 1986 extends over an area of 10 acres with many topographical features imaginatively laid out with picturesque landscape.
With clean and wide roads, the campus presents a spectacle of harmony in architecture and natural beauty having the world-class facilities for training of students.

The campus is wireless, offering all-round Wi-Fi Internet access to students and faculty round the clock. The Wi-Fi network provides network and Internet connectivity in every nook and corner of the campus that includes even the canteen and open theater, garden and the lawns.
The Hi-tech IT Lab comprises of PCs and high-end Workstation with prominent application software to meet the academic needs.
A student-managed in-campus Mess facility - ‘Rasoi’ is available which provides healthy and hygienic vegetarian as well as non- vegetarian meals for the students at reasonable rates.
Adequate facilities are available to provide clean drinking water. In addition to the ‘Rasoi’, the campus also has a cafeteria where students can get beverages & snacks of many varieties.
The classrooms create an atmosphere that is conducive for learning which nurtures the quest for knowledge that the students possess.
All classrooms are air-conditioned and equipped with all modern teaching aids. These include electronic media such a s multimedia notebooks, LCD & O/H projectors, cordless microphones and speakers, etc.
The audio-visual aids in the classroom include television and video players.
The campus has a well-equipped workshop with adequate number of latest machines & equipments.
State-of-the-art machines are available in the Cutting, Closing, Component, Lasting & Finishing Workshops.
The International Design & CAD/CAM division is equipped with most modern and sophisticated machineries and softwares such as - 2D & 3D CAD Systems, CAM Systems, NC Machining, Surface Modeling Systems etc. to nurture the world-class designers for the industry.
ITC specializes in testing of leather, leather products, footwear, footwear components, textile products, plastics, etc. It is the only laboratory in India which has been certified by Deutsche Akkreditierungsstelle GmbH (DAkkS) for ISO 17025 of Germany for chemical and physical testing.
It has also been awarded the ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 by Bureau Veritas.
Its laboratories are accredited by PFI, Germany for safety, protective & occupational footwear for EN ISO 20344, 20345, 20346 & 20347 and Shoe and Allied Trade Research Association (SATRA), UK for fashion and casual footwear.
Students get first hand training on the various testing requirement of the products, banned and hazardous chemicals & international norms in the ITC.

The Visual Merchandising Lab is one of its kind in India at institutional capacity equipped with internationally acclaimed visual merchandising software (Mockshop).
This lab is also equipped with the different hardware which is being used for display whereby the students can integrate themselves with practical learning.

To showcase the creative skill and edifying creativity of the student community, the campus provides a suitable platform for the budding artists to bring to light the Indian culture and showpiece its present integration with the Western community by way of Co-curricular activities.
Various clubs are functional in the campus for the overall development of the students. A core committee consisting of staff and students members manages these clubs.
