The paper discusses about sport’s footwear that has been studied from different perspectives, mainly regarding shoe performance, fit and comfort, or protective function. The protective requirements of sports footwear are complex and present a difficult challenge for shoe manufacturers.

The paper elaborates about the shoe traction (or friction) which is a key factor. Improving traction (grip) of shoes can enhance players’ performances, however it increased joint loading which can also lead to an increase in injury risk. In contrast, slippery shoes are not acceptable; therefore it can be assumed that an optimal of traction can be preferred.

Traction for sports shoes or on friction for court sports there is limited information regarding the optimal amount of friction needed for a player to withstand comfortably which gives rise to the need to study deeply about traction.
