Research paper of Faculties of FDDI Chennai & Hyderabad published in International Journal of Research and Analytical Reviews
A joint research paper of the Faculties of Footwear Design & Development Institute (FDDI) Chennai & Hyderabad campus has been published in the International Journal of Research and Analytical Reviews (IJRAR).
The research paper of Mr. Vishva Kumar (Sr. Faculty) and Mr. Loganathan. T (Jr. Faculty) of FDDI School of Footwear Design and Production (FSFDP) is based on ‘Sports Footwear with Grip Analysis Study’.
IJRAR provides a platform for the researchers, academicians, professional, practitioners and students to impart and share knowledge in the form of high quality empirical and theoretical research papers, case studies, literature reviews and book reviews.
The paper discusses about sport’s footwear that has been studied from different perspectives, mainly regarding shoe performance, fit and comfort, or protective function. The protective requirements of sports footwear are complex and present a difficult challenge for shoe manufacturers.
The paper elaborates about the shoe traction (or friction) which is a key factor. Improving traction (grip) of shoes can enhance players’ performances, however it increased joint loading which can also lead to an increase in injury risk. In contrast, slippery shoes are not acceptable; therefore it can be assumed that an optimal of traction can be preferred.
Traction for sports shoes or on friction for court sports there is limited information regarding the optimal amount of friction needed for a player to withstand comfortably which gives rise to the need to study deeply about traction.
