FDDI’s CoE secures Patent for Revolutionary Footwear Innovations


FDDI, through its Center of Excellence (CoE) has achieved a significant milestone by securing a patent for two groundbreaking footwear designs: Interlocking Footwear and Basketball Shoe Sole.

The Interlocking Footwear, conceptualized by Dr. Madhusudan Pal, Director of CoE, along with Ms. Nikita Gaur, Strategic Developer, and Ms. Ananya Bhardwaj, Intern, introduces a stitch-less, durable, and eco-friendly construction. By eliminating adhesives and stitching, this design enhances efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability, while ensuring improved durability and hygiene—a breakthrough in modern footwear technology.

The Basketball Shoe Sole, developed under the leadership of Dr. Madhusudan Pal, with contributions from Mr. Rishabh Ghritlahare, Ms. Divya Rawat, and Ms. Prachitee Sapre (Interns), and Ms. Sangeeta Pandit, is engineered to enhance grip, stability, and impact distribution. Featuring an innovative cleat pattern and high-density wear-resistant pads, this design reduces strain injuries and supports athletes and senior individuals, while also enabling indigenous mould development for advanced footwear manufacturing.
