Mr. Vishva Kumar, Senior Faculty Gr-II, School of Footwear Design & Production (FDP) at FDDI, Chennai Campus and Mr. Sanjay Anand P S, an undergraduate student, have co-authored a groundbreaking research paper titled "Review with Ideation: Design and Development of a Shoe Sole-Integrated Ultrasonic Dog Repeller for Enhanced Personal Safety."
This research proposes a wearable solution to stray dog-related incidents through a shoe sole-integrated ultrasonic repeller. Activated by foot pressure, the device emits high-frequency sound waves (20–25 kHz) that deter dogs without disturbing humans.
The study emphasizes user-centered design, integrating safe and ergonomic materials like EVA and TPU, offering a hands-free, real-time safety solution for outdoor activities.
This work highlights FDDI Chennai’s commitment to innovation and showcases the power of faculty-student collaboration in addressing real-world safety challenges.
This wearable solution provides a smart alternative to traditional handheld devices, enhancing safety for outdoor users—particularly in urban and semi-urban environments.
