FDDI, Chennai students experience the legacy of Indian Weaving at Weavers Service Centre


An educational trip for FDDI, Chennai students was organized at Weavers Service Centre (WSC) - Chennai on 27th September 2024 by the School of Fashion Design (FD).

During the visit at the Design Resource Centre - WSC, the students who were accompanied by faculty members were introduced to a variety of fabrics and design patterns, gaining inspiration for their own footwear designs.

Ms. Sasikala, Assistant Director, Design Department addressed the students and briefed them about the rich heritage of Indian textiles.

The highlight of the visit was the live demonstration of traditional textile techniques in the Process Lab, where students observed block printing, screen printing, batik, and tie-and-dye processes. This hands-on experience deepened their understanding of how colors, textures, and patterns can be creatively applied in design.
