Delegation assesses progress of Footwear Park project in Mahawal, Muzaffarpur, Bihar


To review the progress of ongoing project of Footwear Park at Mahawal, Muzaffarpur, Bihar under the Indian Footwear and Leather Development Programme (IFLDP), a delegation visited the site on 3rd July 2024 and held discussion with officials of Bihar Industrial Development Authority (BIADA).

The delegation consisted of Ms. Mamta, Director (L&F), DPIIT, Colonel Pankaj Kumar Sinha, Managing Director, FDDI, Mr. Sachin Singh Chauhan, Assistant Section Officer, DPIIT, Mr. Vijay Kumar Nehra, Deputy Director, National Productivity Council (NPC) who were tasked with assessing various aspects of the project's development.

The official of BIADA, namely Mr. Chandra Shekhar Singh, Executive Director - Industrial Development (North), Mr. Santosh Kr. Sinha, Executive Director-Investment Promotion, Mr. Manish Kumar, DGM- Tech. (HQ & North) and Mr. Amit Sinha, DGM- Investment Promotion, briefed the delegation about the progress of upcoming Footwear Park at Mahawal, Muzaffarpur aimed at boosting the footwear and leather industry in Bihar.

On 4th July 2024, the delegation interacted with Mr. Sandeep Pondrik, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Government of Bihar and Mr. Pankaj Dixit, IAS, Director, Industries, Government of Bihar and discussed about the progress of upcoming Footwear Park at Mahawal according to the plan.

The delegation also visited the Bag cluster and Textile cluster developed by BIADA in the Bela Industrial Area, Muzaffarpur.

On 4th July 2024, the delegation visited M/s. Competence Export Pvt. Ltd, Hajipur and M/s. Bata India Limited, Patna.

The delegation visited the footwear factory and had a discussion with the MD of M/s. Competence Export Pvt. Ltd., located at Hajipur

The delegation also visited the factory of M/s. Bata India Limited, Patna and had a discussion with Mr. Kuharan Mukhopadhyay, AVP, Manufacturing.
