On 25th June, 2024, FDDI, Chhindwara campus and Western Coalfields Ltd. (WCL) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to offer short-term training programs for the fiscal year 2024-25.
The programs will focus on footwear design and retail, aimed at benefiting displaced and unemployed youth in the coal mining regions.
On behalf of FDDI, Dr. Pradeep Mandal, HoD- Fashion Design (FD) & Centre Incharge, FDDI, Chhindwara campus signed the MoU whereas, on behalf of WCL, Mr. P. Narendra Kumar, General Manager (HRD) signed the MoU. On this occasion, Mr. P.J. Bedarkar, Chief Manager (Minings) from WCL, Dr. Vinit Verma (HoD Retail) and Mr. Ashish Wankhede (A.M – SA&ED) from FDDI also present besides officials from the WCL Head office.
The meticulously designed 4-month comprehensive training programmes, both in manufacturing and retail aspects, through WCL sponsorship aims to bridge the skills gap, enhancing the employability of participants and preparing them for successful careers for contributing to economic development in coal mining regions in Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh region.
