With the objective to provide first-hand information about the production process involved in apparel manufacturing & to acquaint about the day-to-day workings of various departments, an industrial visit for the students of B.Des, Fashion Design (2022 and 2023 batches) of FDDI, Hyderabad campus was organized at Shahi Exports Pvt. Ltd., Nacharam, Hyderabad on 18th September 2024.
During the visit, students had the opportunity to explore various departments, from fabric sourcing and cutting to garment assembly, packaging, and quality control, giving them a perspective on the intricacies of mass production in the fashion industry.
The highly experienced faculties of FDDI namely, Mr. Harish Kumar and Dr. Anupriya Singh, who accompanied the students, offered insights on how the latest Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools and latest software solutions can be integrated into the garment production process.
The students also had the chance to share their ideas on sustainability. They suggested innovative ways to utilize fabric waste generated during production by repurposing it into home furnishing products and other daily-use items. This approach not only addresses waste reduction but also opens up possibilities for creative, eco-friendly products, reflecting the growing importance of sustainability in the fashion industry.
