Educational tour at ‘Hunar Haat - Exhibition of Swadeshi Handicraft Products’ for FDDI, Fursatganj students
Under the educational tour, on 18th November 2021, the students of the Footwear Design & Development Institute (FDDI), Fursatganj campus visited the ‘Hunar Haat - Exhibition of Swadeshi Handicraft Products’ held in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.
Under the supervision and guidance of faculty of FDDI School of Fashion Design (FSFD), students of batches B.DESIGN FD 2019, B.DESIGN FD 2020 (Fashion Design) batches and B.DESIGN FD 2021(Foundation batch) visited the event where more than 100 artisans/designers displayed their handmade products.
‘Hunar Haat’ - the noble initiative of the Ministry of Minority Affairs has provided employment opportunities to lakhs of master artisans, craftsmen & culinary experts and is playing a significant role in making ‘Vocal for Local’ , a mass movement.
Indian art and craft that were presented included Phulkari, Bamboo and Cane Handicraft, Brass Handicrafts, Marble Stone Craft, The Art of Pattachitra, The Art of Madhubani, The Art of Gond, The Art of the Warli, Leather, Shells, Terracotta Works, Pashmina Shawls, Kalamkari Art, Madhubani Painting, Sikki Grass Craft, Dhokra Craft, Khavda Pottery, Wood Carving, Chanderi Craft etc.
The design elective students were inspired by masterpieces of sculptures, paintings, carvings, textiles, leather, ceramics, metallic artifacts, carpets, clocks, and furniture from various regions of India, which are beneficial for their design skill development.
The visit was an enriching experience for the students as it enhanced their knowledge on ‘Material Exploration’, ‘Environmental Studies’ and the ‘History of Art and Design’ and also helped them to know the intricacies of handmade products.
The students of FDDI not only got a chance to view the famous handicrafts of different States of India, but, also got an opportunity to interact with the crafts persons from all over India and acquire information about the traditional art works of our country.
