A research article authored by Mr. Abhishek Kumar Saxena, Faculty - FDDI Fursatganj, has been published in the International Journal of Innovative Research in Technology (IJIRT) (March 2026, Vol. 12, Issue 10).
Titled “Algorithm-Based Pattern Nesting for Waste Reduction in Footwear Upper Cutting: A Systematic Literature Review,” the paper examines advanced computational techniques to minimize material wastage in footwear manufacturing. The study reviews 50 research publications (2003–2025) and analyses approaches such as genetic algorithms, heuristic methods, and AI-based optimization.
The findings indicate that algorithm-driven nesting can improve material utilization by approximately 15%, while enhancing efficiency compared to conventional methods. The study also underscores the role of digital tools, AI, and Industry 4.0 in enabling sustainable and efficient production systems.
The research makes a valuable contribution to sustainable footwear manufacturing and promotes the adoption of data-driven, CAD-integrated solutions in academia and industry.
