The FDDI Pavilion at Bharat Tex 2026 emerged as a vibrant platform for innovation, collaboration and knowledge exchange, bringing together academia, industry, government and international stakeholders under one roof.
Inspired by the theme “Fibre to Fashion. Fashion to Lifestyle,” FDDI showcased its integrated ecosystem across footwear innovation, leather goods and lifestyle, fashion design, textile and apparel solutions, testing and quality assurance, research and consultancy, and innovation, startups and skill development at Bharat Tex 2026, held from 14–17 July 2026.
From student creations to industry-ready solutions, the exhibits reflected FDDI’s commitment to advancing creativity, quality, sustainability and skilled talent. Over the four-day event, the pavilion facilitated meaningful interactions with industry leaders, policymakers, manufacturers, exporters, startups, academic institutions and global stakeholders, creating opportunities for collaboration and knowledge exchange.
The pavilion was visited by several eminent dignitaries, including Ms. Vrunda Manohar Desai, IRS, Textile Commissioner, Government of India; Ms. Padmini Singla, IAS, Joint Secretary (Silk), Ministry of Textiles & Vice Chairperson, Central Silk Board; Dr. Naresh Babu N, Joint Secretary (Technical), Central Silk Board; Mr. P. Shiv Kumar, IFS, Member Secretary, Central Silk Board; and Mr. Kishan Singh Ghughtyal, Director, National Jute Board.
FDDI also welcomed distinguished international delegations from Italy, Sri Lanka, Africa, the United Kingdom and the United States, opening avenues for greater global collaboration in research, innovation and business engagement.
Ms. Anchit Kaur and Ms. Ashika Pandit, Semester IV students of the Leather Goods and Accessories Design (LGAD) programme, received the Special Recognition Award at the Sanrachna Hackathon held during Bharat Tex 2026.
Their innovative concept, “PediFlex: Flat Foot Preventive Shoes for Kids,” impressed the jury for its thoughtful approach to addressing a real-world healthcare need through design. Combining functionality, user-centric thinking and innovation, the project demonstrated the potential of design-led solutions to address everyday challenges and create meaningful social impact.
The successful participation at Bharat Tex 2026 reinforced FDDI’s role in connecting education with enterprise, innovation with industry, and Indian capabilities with global opportunities, further strengthening its vision of building a future-ready textile, fashion and allied industry ecosystem.
