FDDI, Fursatganj Faculty Publish Research on AI-Enabled Smart Footwear for Healthcare Applications

Mr. Abhishek Kumar Saxena, Faculty and Mr. Mukesh Saini, Senior Faculty Grade-II from the School of Footwear Design & Production (FDP), FDDI Fursatganj, have published a research paper titled “Smart Wearable Shoes for Deep Learning-Based Gait Analysis and Abnormal Walking Pattern Detection” in the International Journal of Innovative Research in Technology (IJIRT), Volume 12, Issue May 2026.

The research highlights the growing potential of smart footwear in healthcare and wearable technology. The study presents an intelligent shoe system equipped with pressure sensors, accelerometers, gyroscopes, and AI-based deep learning models (CNN and LSTM) for real-time gait analysis. The system achieved an accuracy of approximately 93–95% in detecting abnormal walking patterns associated with Parkinson’s disease, arthritis, stroke-related impairments, and other mobility disorders.

By integrating footwear design, wearable technology, healthcare monitoring, and artificial intelligence, the research offers an innovative solution for early diagnosis, rehabilitation support, and continuous health monitoring while ensuring user comfort. The publication reflects FDDI’s commitment to research, innovation, and the development of technology-driven footwear solutions that contribute to improved healthcare outcomes and quality of life.
