FDDI takes pride in announcing that a Design Patent has been granted for the innovative product “Leather Stair Climber Basket” jointly developed by the faculty of FDDI Hyderabad Campus and collaborators.
The innovation, led by Dr. Rambabu Muppidi, Faculty of School of Leather Goods and Accessories Design (LGAD), marks his 18th Indian Design Patent. The project was developed with the research support of Dr. Yogesh Babu and Mr. Elayaraja, and involved detailed design explorations and field studies across residential areas in Rayadurgam and Manikonda.
The Leather Stair Climber Basket is a handcrafted, ergonomically designed accessory that enables effortless transportation of goods up and down stairs. Its multi-wheeled rotating mechanism and lightweight structure reduce physical strain and enhance user balance—seamlessly blending traditional leather craftsmanship with modern functional innovation.
The patent, filed under Application No. 469487-001 (Class 09-04), was submitted on 12th August 2025, published on 22nd October 2025 in The Patent Office Journal No. 43/2025, (Page 106454) available at https://search.ipindia.gov.in/IPOJournal/Journal/ViewJournal
