Profile & Biography

Dr. Annu Kumari is a distinguished Faculty member at the School of Fashion Design, FDDI, with approximately 12 years of experience spanning international academia and the fashion industry. She holds a Ph.D. in Fashion Technology specializing in Apparel Sizing from NIFT Delhi (2024) and is UGC-NET qualified. Her professional journey includes significant roles as an Assistant Professor at SGT University and Amity University, and as a NIFT Teaching Fellow, where she contributed to the high-profile INDIAsize Project by training in 3D body scanning and developing standard size charts for Indian plus-size women. Globally, she served as a University Lecturer at EiTEX, Ethiopia, acting as a Learning-Research-Implementation Officer and Principal Investigator for government-funded branding and production optimization projects. Her industry foundations were built through merchandising and production roles at Li & Fung and Alok Industries Ltd.

Dr. Kumari's expertise in the design process, apparel sizing, and visual merchandising is backed by a strong research portfolio, including an i10 index of 4 and 13 combined research and conference papers. Her work in Springer Nature on Mughal architecture and fashion silhouettes has notably reached over 29,000 global accesses. A decorated academic, she was the National Topper in the NPTEL "Science of Clothing Comfort" course and recipient of the Best Institutional Seminar Award in Ethiopia, the NIFT Teaching Fellowship, and the 3rd Prize at Synergy-2024. Currently, at FDDI, she plays a vital role in institutional growth, from designing Ph.D. curriculum inputs and organizing IPR workshops to curating exhibitions and managing newsletter content, consistently bridging the gap between technical research and creative excellence.
