Profile & Biography
Dr. Ashok Sahai is a distinguished academician and industry professional, currently serving as Senior Faculty in the Footwear Design & Production (FDP) domain at FDDI Kolkata. He holds a B.Sc. from DELHI UNIVERSITY (1995), a MBA in Marketing from IIMT Greater Noida (1997), and a Diploma in Footwear Design (DFD) from FDDI NOIDA (2000). He further advanced his academic pursuits by earning an M.Phil.(Management) in 2019 and a Ph.D.(Management) in 2024 from SHOBHIT DEEMED UNIVERSITY, Meerut. In addition, he completed an Executive Programme in Product and Brand Management from IIM ROHTAK in 2023. Dr. Sahai brings over 25 years of comprehensive experience spanning both academia and the footwear industry. Before joining FDDI in 2009 as Senior Faculty in the LGAD department, he worked with reputed organizations such as Mirza International Ltd., Crew B.O.S. Products Pvt. Ltd., Creative Home Fashions, and Apollo International Ltd., gaining valuable industry exposure. An active researcher, he has authored and published around 10 research papers in national and international journals, focusing on the Indian footwear market and its evolving dynamics. He is also the author of a book on Footwear Retailing published in 2019. Dr. Sahai has contributed to global industry development through his involvement in international consultancy projects in Ethiopia and Botswana. He is deeply passionate about sports footwear and adopts a hands-on, practice-oriented approach in his teaching and research. His continuous engagement with the field as a practitioner, researcher, and educator enables him to effectively bridge the gap between industry and academia, inspiring students in the field of design.
