Profile & Biography
Dr. Asma Khan is a Senior Faculty II at the School of Fashion Design, bringing over 19 years of academic and research experience. She holds a PhD in Fashion and Textile (2019), alongside a Master's and Bachelor's degree in Garment Production and Export Management. Throughout her career, she has served as a Department Head and Coordinator across various prestigious universities and has gained significant industry exposure through collaborations with iconic designers like Bibi Russel and Satya Paul.
A prolific scholar and mentor, Dr. Khan has published 60 research papers and articles, including 10 Scopus-indexed works, and has successfully guided three PhD theses. Her research portfolio is remarkably diverse, featuring the NAIP Pashmina project and studies in revival fashion, antimicrobial textiles, and zero-waste garment construction. She is a prominent figure in the fashion circuit, having participated in Lakme and Delhi Fashion Weeks and served as a panelist for Bharat Tex and NCERT. Her commitment to the field is further evidenced by her memberships in TAI, ICAR-CSWRI, and ICAR-NINFET, as well as her extensive work with NGOs like Ruda and the Urmul Trust to promote eco-friendly product development and textile preservation.
