Profile & Biography
Dr. Pradeep Kumar Mandal is a Senior Faculty II at the School of Fashion Design, offering over 23 years of dual experience in high-level academia and the apparel industry. His academic pedigree includes a BFA in Painting, a specialized PG in Knitwear Design & Technology, and an M.Des from NIFT New Delhi. In 2022, he was awarded a Ph.D. in Clothing & Textile, focusing on the translation of Tibetan traditional art into contemporary fashion. His career is marked by prestigious roles at NIFT Kangra and Amity University, where he has mentored students in knitwear, design processes, and portfolio development. Notably, he received the "Most Commercial Design Collection Award" at NIFT for his knitwear range, "Crasalis," sponsored by Sport King Pvt. Ltd.
A prolific researcher and institutional leader, Dr. Mandal has published over 18 research papers and book chapters in UGC-approved journals, with additional work currently under publication with Taylor & Francis. He has demonstrated exceptional administrative prowess by securing 3.13 crore in consultancy funding from Western Coalfield Ltd. and the Central Mine & Planning Institute. His professional standing is further cemented by his role as an Editorial Board Member for IJSET and his status as a Fellow Member of the Scholars Academic and Scientific Society (FSASS). His expertise remains deeply rooted in the fusion of fine arts and technical design, spanning fashion illustration, knitting design, home furnishing, and traditional embroidery.
