Profile & Biography
Dr. Priyadharshini R is a seasoned Footwear Technologist turned researcher, with a strong background in footwear product development and a passion for applying biomechanics to improve mobility and quality of life. With over 5 years of industrial experience and an equal tenure in academic research, Dr. Priyadharshini specializes in developing innovative offloading devices based on the walking biomechanics of individuals with diabetic foot ulcers. Dr. Priyadharshini earned a Ph.D. in Technology from Anna University, Chennai, with a dissertation titled “Algorithm for Design and Development of Ankle Foot Orthosis for Patients with Diabetic Foot Ulcer Based on Biomechanical Principles.” This groundbreaking research involved studying the walking patterns of individuals with diabetic foot ulcers and designing customized ankle-foot orthoses tailored to their unique biomechanical needs. A key highlight of Dr. Priyadharshini's expertise lies in operating advanced gait and motion analysis systems. Proficient in handling BTS and SIMI motion analysis systems, they manage the entire workflow—from subject preparation and data acquisition to report generation and result interpretation. This expertise has enabled Dr. Priyadharshini to independently manage complex biomechanics laboratories and contribute to their establishment, notably being part of the installation team for the Biomechanics Laboratory at FDDI Rohtak. Dr. Priyadharshini also has extensive experience in customizing footwear for individuals with lower-limb complications, leveraging plantar pressure studies to create bespoke solutions. This practical knowledge complements their 5 years of teaching experience in footwear-related subjects, where they mentor students in combining design, technology, and human biomechanics. An inspiring educator and innovative researcher, Dr. Priyadharshini is committed to bridging the gap between technology and healthcare through footwear design and biomechanics, while nurturing the next generation of footwear professionals.
