Profile & Biography
Ms. Anita Ray is the Senior Faculty and Head of Department at the School of Fashion Design, FDDI Kolkata, with a distinguished career spanning over 23 years of academic and industry experience. She possesses a multidisciplinary academic foundation, holding an M.Des. in Textile Design and Development from NIFT Kolkata and an M.Sc. in Environmental Science from Vidyasagar University. Her industry tenure includes significant work with J.J. Spectrum Silk, where she developed print and embroidery collections for elite global fashion houses like Gianfranco Ferré and Armani, which were notably showcased at the prestigious Première Vision, Paris.
Previously an Assistant Professor at J.D. Birla Institute, Mrs. Ray has become a key figure in design evaluation, serving as an external jury member at NID Jorhat and collaborating with institutions like the Weavers' Service Centre and NIFT. Through her heritage-driven and practice-oriented pedagogy, she continues to lead FDDI Kolkata in promoting traditional Indian textiles and mentoring the next generation of creative professionals.
