Profile & Biography

Ms. Maya Chauhan is a Faculty member and current Department In-charge at the School of Fashion Design, boasting a highly specialized international academic and industrial background. She earned her M.S. in Apparel, Textiles, and Merchandising from Eastern Michigan University, USA (2014), a Bachelor of Engineering in Fashion Technology from D.K.T.E. Society's Textile & Engineering Institute (2010), and a Diploma in Technical Textiles from VJTI, Mumbai (2006). Her professional global footprint includes serving as a Senior Sewing Engineer in the USA, where she specialized in protective clothing and turnout rental management for fire services, alongside two years of experience as a Teaching Assistant at Eastern Michigan University.

In India, Mrs. Chauhan brings over nine years of academic leadership, including four years as the Head of Department at Maniben Nanavati College (SNDT Women's University) and tenures at JD Institute of Fashion Technology and Designer Institute. She has also contributed as ad-hoc faculty at VJTI and as a Visiting Professor at MIT University. Her deep technical expertise encompasses Technical Textiles (specifically firefighter uniforms), Pattern Making, Garment Construction, and Gerber CAD, as well as Retail Merchandising, Quality Management, and Sustainable Textiles. This unique combination of engineering precision and design education allows her to lead the department with a focus on both functional innovation and academic excellence.
