Profile & Biography
Ms. Zia Gulafshan is a dedicated Faculty member at the School of Fashion Design, FDDI Hyderabad, bringing over 9 years of combined academic and industry experience. An alumna of NIFT Delhi, she holds a Master of Design (M.Des) and a Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design and Technology from the University of Allahabad. Her diverse professional trajectory includes serving as an Assistant Professor at prestigious institutions such as Banaras Hindu University (BHU), NIFT Bhubaneswar, and VIFD (SNDT University).
Zia employs a student-centric, research-driven pedagogy that emphasizes critical thinking and cultural sensitivity, aiming to bridge the gap between industry practice and design education. Beyond academia, she has significantly contributed to the social and craft sectors, serving as a Project Coordinator for SEWA International Bharat and the Chetana Skill Development Centre. Her work is defined by a passion for enhancing students' creative visualization skills and preparing them for the evolving global fashion landscape through robust portfolio development.
